Ogechi Abu (Speaker)

Ogechi Abu is a consummate legal practitioner with over 20 years active legal practice experience and expertise in human rights, Gender and Child’s Rights and commercial disputes. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and a Senior Lawyer in the Law Firm of Banwo & Ighodalo, a first-tier and leading Nigerian law Firm.

Ogechi is an active member of the Nigerian Bar Association Abuja (Unity Bar) where she has served as the Branch Vice-Chair and Chair, Human Rights Committee. She is a strong advocate of gender equality, a fierce advocate against gender violence and a staunch Member of the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) Nigeria. She has served FIDA in various capacities including as FIDA Abuja Secretary and National Publicity Secretary. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and a Notary Public for Nigeria.

She likes to donate her time to community service and regularly renders pro-bono representation to indigent women and children. She is the Director, Legal for Fundacion Exito.
